Commonly known a RS, it is concentrated Ethyl Alcohol that has been purified by means of distillation. It can be made both from molasses and grains. In its undiluted form, it contains at least 95% alcohol by volume. Purity of rectified spirit has a practical limit when produced using conventional distillation processes as a mixture of ethanol and water becomes a minimum- boiling azeotrope at this concentration.
Mainly used for manufacturing Ethanol for blending in Petrol. Some states permit the use of RS for making Country Liquor as well.
