Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) is the official term used by governments and businesses in India to refer to all types of hard liquor manufactured in the country other than indigenous liquors such as PML.The blending procedure of IMFL is different from PML. Double / triple distilled Extra Neutral alcohol (ENA) is first blended with demineralized water in SS blending tanks with matured malt spirit or imported spirits as per product requirement and given a retention time of 24 hours or more as per the requirement.After overnight retention, flavours, essences and caramel are added. The blended ingredients are again put to retention for about 48 hours’ time before bottling and final packing.

It is consumed in India from ancient times and is known by different names in different parts of the country and is specific to a state or region only. Similarly, PML is associated to sell only in Punjab and is developed to suit the taste buds of Punjabis.
Country Liquor (PML) is an alcoholic drink made in the Indian subcontinent. It is traditionally prepared from a procedure that has been passed down for centuries by blending neutral potable alcohol with demineralized water, spicy flavors, essences and color for smooth taste. Flavors can range from simple one like Orange, Saunfi, Raspberry etc to downright bold such as masala. These flavors are generally decided as per the popularity in the region and consumption pattern. Commonly known a RS, it is concentrated Ethyl Alcohol that has been purified by means of distillation. It can be made both from molasses and grains. In its undiluted form, it contains at least 95% alcohol by volume. Purity of rectified spirit has a practical limit when produced using conventional distillation processes as a mixture of ethanol and water becomes a minimum- boiling azeotrope at this concentration.
Mainly used for manufacturing Ethanol for blending in Petrol. Some states permit the use of RS for making Country Liquor as well.
Commonly known as ENA can also be produced both from Molasses and Grains. Grain ENA (GNS) is produced by further refining of RS through Double/Triple distillation and alcohol concentration is usually more than 96% v/v. Mainly used in manufacture of Potable liquor and IMFL, presently it is being used in Sanitizers as well.

Government with a view to promote Ethanol Blending Program (EBP) introduced Bio Fuel Policy 2018 which aims to increase usage of biofuels in the energy and transportation sectors of the country during the coming decade. The Policy aims to utilize, develop and promote domestic feedstock and its utilization for production of biofuels thereby increasingly substitute fossil fuels while contributing to National Energy Security, Climate Change mitigation, apart from creating new employment opportunities in a sustainable way. This shall also support the nation by saving precious foreign exchange.
We at CSIPL immediately grabbed the opportunity as we had the ability of captive feed stock to manufacture Ethanol. This has also ensured sustainability of economic viability of sugar industry in the scenario of over production of sugar.
The 10% blending of Ethanol has been mandated in the policy and the quantities are being procured by Oil Manufacturing Companies (OMCs) through tender process. The company is participating in tenders for the last two years has successfully met its committed quantities manufactured out of feedstock B Heavy molasses, intermediary produce in the manufacture of sugar to contain sugar production in excess production scenario and C Heavy molasses.
